Woodtrace Foundation Awards $2500 Scholarship to Resident Rylan Bear

August 3, 2022

Congratulations to Rylan Bear who recently received a $2500 scholarship from the Woodtrace Community Foundation.

Rylan will be attending Louisiana State University (LSU) in the fall to study degree in Biological Sciences and hopes to continue his education to become a physician's assistant. Rylan is a graduate of Tomball High School, where he completed some college work at Lone Star College prior to his high school graduation. He was active in Student Council and National Honors Society while at Tomball High School. He spent four years in Student Council and worked as the parliamentarian and Vice President. He participated in NHS for two years and was Vice President.  He also worked with the school board as the class of 2022 Student Ambassador for his school. Outside of school he worked with the archdiocese youth council for three years. Along with all of this work at school, he also worked part-time at Everybellies in Tomball as a grill cook for a year.

Rylan and his family have been Woodtrace residents for seven years. They relocated here after living in Jakarta, Indonesia for several years. Rylan says this is the longest he has ever lived any place and is proud to be an American and that Woodtrace is truly his home.

We wish Rylan much success at LSU and look forward to hearing more about his future success!
