Tavola by Friendswood Development Company was honored with a Texas Star Award by the Texas Association of Builders (TAB) on Thursday, July 16th at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas. The annual Tavola Reindeer Run was judged BEST SPECIAL EVENT by the TAB. The highly-coveted Texas Star Awards are presented annually in conjunction with the Sunbelt Builders Show to recognize excellence in all areas of the home building industry. In 2021, the Tavola Foundation presented a $7,500 check for the race proceeds and a $2,500 check for the NCISD School Challenge to Tavola Elementary School, for a total $10,000 donation. The race will return in 2022 on Saturday, December 3, 2022. In addition to winning the Best Special Event category, Friendswood Development Company was a finalist in several additional categories including Best Community over 600 acres for Tavola; Best Community 51-299 acres for Vistas at Klein Lake; Best Brochure for Kingwood; Best Direct Mail for a developer; Best Special Promotion for Discovery New Home Tour; and was also a Finalist for the Developer Grand Award.

The Star Awards have been given annually since 1992 as the only statewide tribute to excellence in the homebuilding industry recognizing excellence in all areas of the residential construction industry. These awards are highly coveted within the industry.
