Heart Attack & Stroke Prevention

Please join Village Builders in Heritage at Towne Lake on Tuesday, October 13 for affordable, painless ultrasound tests of your arteries and bones. Unfortunately, insurance companies typically won’t pay for ultrasound testing unless you have symptoms. But, 50% of sudden cardiac death victims and 80% of stroke victims have no symptoms. That’s why a preventive screening is so important to keep you and your loved ones healthy and independent.

Three Tests for $130.95
These painless tests often cost more than $1,000 in hospitals.

Stroke / Carotid Artery Disease Test
80-85% of strokes result from clots that break off, traveling to smaller arteries in the brain. Carotid Artery Disease is a leading cause of these clots. We use ultrasound to identify dangerous plaque build-up.

State Senator Dan Patrick (R-Houston) and State Representative Allen Fletcher (R-Tomball) were the keynote speakers at the Focus on Government Day event held Saturday, September 26 at the Lodge in The Heritage at Towne Lake.

Focus on Government Day began at 10 a.m. and concluded with a lunch sponsored by Friendswood Development Company, at 1:00 p.m. The event, which focused on issues of concern among citizens in their district, topics related to the growing active adult market and what the lawmakers say did not happen in Austin during the past legislative session.

“We’re honored that these two important members of our state government came to this event,” said Christine Draughn of Friendswood Development Company and  Marketing Director for Heritage at Towne Lake. “We had a great response.”

The  Academy of Lifelong Learning (ALL) is a membership community for seniors age 50 and up, and focuses on enriching the lives of empty nesters and active senior citizens by providing useful classes, seminars, social activities and skills development and opportunities for personal growth. The event was free and open to the public.

Each year, the Greater Houston Builders Association recognizes industry members for their outstanding contributions to the design and development of new homes and communities at an awards ceremony that was renamed this year to Houston’s Best (formerly the PRISM awards).

This year, once again, Friendswood Development Company was honored for its innovative efforts in reaching new-home buyers and Realtors who work with buyers in their search for a new home.

Friendswood Development Company was awarded Best Website by a Developer and Best Internet Marketing Campaign by a Developer for the creative new websites and promotions implemented into FriendswoodDevelopment.com and websites for each of our communities.

“Consumers spend a lot of time on the Internet before they ever get in the car to start their new home search. Understanding this, Friendswood Development Company has made their websites and online presence top priority and it’s the main focus of their advertising campaign,” said Cheryl Perry of Boe Creative Services, Friendswood Development Company’s advertising agency. “This award comes at a time when everyone in the residential real estate industry understands the importance of a great website, so the competition was very strong.”

McNeil Elementary School’s principal, Ken Davis, was recently honored as a National Distinguished Elementary School Principal.

Lakemont’s continued success in attracting new home buyers can also be attributed to the community’s strong resident involvement. In addition to a variety of nearby conveniences such as shopping, medical centers, employment centers and recreation, Lakemont residents have a wide array of activities and events right in their own community.

The Lakemont Homeowners Association hosts various events that benefit residents of all ages throughout the year and the Lakemont Ladies Association organizes a number of different activities that all enable residents to get out and meet one another. Lakemont’s resident volunteers are also busy in planning fun events for residents such as the introduction of outdoor movie nights.

More business has just come to Houston, creating job opportunities for Houstonians across the city and its communities. Due to an increase in demand, a new tire retreading plant has recently opened in Houston by Snider Tire, Inc. and Michelin Retread Technologies.

The new plant is located at 603 Northpark Central Drive near George Bush Intercontinental Airport, and will supply four of Texas' Snider commercial locations in Conroe, Dallas/Prairie, Beaumont, and Houston.

John Snider, president of Snider Tire, had this to say: "We have seen an increase in demand from trucking fleets for emergency roadside service and Michelin Retread Technologies tire products." He also added, "[the] new facility will ensure that we can meet the demand with additional production, as well as timely retread delivery to our commercial locations in Texas."

This new plant will cut delivery time to these locations by over 20 percent, according to Snider Tire. This will ensure more efficient operations, lower costs, and more jobs for people in the Houston area. It should also provide a nice boost to the automotive industry within Houston.

Friendswood Development Continues to Get Social

During our Social Media Event for Houston Real Estate professionals, we had an impressive amount of video captured of interactions and interviews with Realtors that work with Friendswood Development Company and our communities. The abundance of video inspired us to create YouTube "channels" for our communities to share what Real Estate professionals have to say about them.

In the right module of several of our communities' blog pages as well as the Friendswood Development Company blog page, you should now find a link to a YouTube channel and videos of interviews with Houston area Realtors. We're excited to share the enthusiasm of the people who know our communities best! In addition, on several of our channels, you may also find informative videos about the respective community.

On the channels, you can comment and share with us your experiences or thoughts on videos we post in the future; it is our goal to stay as interactive as possible with those who support our communities. Our YouTube channels are just one more avenue in which we can reach out and hear back.
